Cards for Heroes!

How often do you create for something charitable? Well, I've been giving this some thought for quite some time...what to do, what organization is out there that I feel really good about sending some crafty goodness to?

So after searching long and hard I decided on Cards for Heroes! They send cards to military men and women overseas who are serving our country. They receive the cards and then they have something special to send home to their wife, parents, children, friends, and other loved ones. This is so nice and not only is fun for the service men and women, but provides some comfort to those waiting back home.

So I created 8 halloween cards and sent them out the other day! I challenge you to do create some cards too if you feel like getting involved with this organization. I will be creating more cards to send and next time I do, I plan to take photos before I send them to post to my blog!

If you decide to create and send I would love to hear about it. I'd love to know what you created and how many you sent and if you plan to continue! So leave a post on this thread to let me know, ok? Here is the website for more information!

Mirror Mirror on the wall.....

Who's the most handsome dude of all?

Ok, here is the mirror you guys wanted me to create! I made this piece using the brand new Cosmo Cricket Boyfriend line, Tim Holtz Grungeboard letters, Therm O Web adhesives,a mirror I got at Michael's and a round tack I believe is an old K and Company item.

The Howdy sign on the top and the little paper pieces pop dotted to the Howdy are all from the Cosmo Boyfriend collection. Isn't it amazing what you can do with patterned paper alone? I only got paper for all the new Cosmo collections because the Ready Set Chip were not ready in time to ship out! I am dying to get my hands on the chips too....but I think I am most creative when I have to push myself without embellishmnets!

I've never created a man's tie from paper before and this was really fun and much easier than I thought!

Doubting I will have time yet this weekend to create the Jolly By Golly Christmas card but we shall see. If not this weekend, then this coming week for sure! Oh and if you can all tell me your favorite size card I will again take the majority and that is the size I will make. Just think..........I will create the idea and then you can head to your LSS (or online) and order up your own Jolly By Golly crafting kit and then duplicate it for your own Christmas cards! If you start now you will be the most organized holiday person on the earth because your cards will be done long before Christmas!

Leave a comment below with your favorite sized card!

The mirror is coming....

Ok, I am working on the mirror this morning....hope to post it later today!

The winner is...

The mirror! So this weekend I will create the mirror and if I have a little time I will also create the card as well to post next week! Maybe eventually I will get to the candle but I also have a few deadlines that need my attention!

I also wanted to thank so many of you who spend your valuable time reading my blog. It means a lot to me that you come here to visit and take such an interest in my work. You guys are what keeps me challenged, keeps me going, and I get so much energy from hearing from all of you! So thanks to each and every one of you for all you do to keep me inspired!

Ok, time to create...

Vote for what you want me to create!

Ok, I want to create something that you want to see! So I will leave this open until Friday gathering all of your opinions and then I will do some creating this weekend and post the finished project. So what would you like to see me do?

1. Altered candle using Cosmo Cricket's new Earth Love line?
2. An altered mirror using Cosmo Cricket's new Boyfriend line?
3. A Christmas card using Cosmo Cricket's Jolly By Golly collection?

Ok, pick one, leave a comment and based on the most requests I will create that item over the weekend and post it on my blog when I'm done!

Brand new projects of the month!

Just reminding you about the Wausau Paper projects of the month that I do each month. Of course since we are in July these are summer related projects. The page layout is a beginner level project so very simple. The garden party favor is more advanced so it has more detail and is more complex. Use the link below to make your way to view both projects!

You can also sign up for the e-mail newsletter and projects of the month on the website while you are there. That way you will be able to view them each month and they are released for viewing on the 1st of each month. Make sure you bookmark the website!

New Layout

My mother makes the worlds best apple pie! Really, the crust is flaky, the filling perfectly cooked and sweetened, and the aroma when it bakes is out of this world good! So I decided it was time to capture this on a scrapbook page complete with recipe and all!

I created this layout using the Cosmo Cricket Early Bird line. I know, I know.......no surprises here, right? I did a lot of distressing and inking with this layout and layering with all kinds of goodness.

Anyway, I'd love to hear about a favorite recipe that someone special in your life cooks or bakes that you love. Go ahead, tell me about it, I want to know! Then if you have time create a layout and post a link for me!

Want to know how to make this?

Ok, above is a project download that I created for Cosmo Cricket! It uses the Cosmo Cricket Lil' Man collection and a clear bucket. I designed this containter to be used as a gift bucket to fill with something fun for a boy. But there are probably a million uses!

Anyway, if you want to create your own Lil' Man birthday bucket head over to Cosmo Cricket's blog using the following link and download your very own set of instructions!
